Air Conditioning Gas Leak Repairs

Refrigerant gas leaks are one of the most common and tricky air conditioning problems and are often not repaired correctly resulting in unnecessary high costs to the customer, at vital air conditioning services we carry out our gas leak repairs utilising state of the art refrigerant leak detecting techniques and in accordance with ARC code of practice. We also provide 100% money back guarantee on all our leak repairs.

Here are the steps that a technician might follow to repair a refrigerant leak:

1

Locate the leak

The first step in repairing a refrigerant leak is to locate the source of the leak. This can be done using a variety of methods, such as visual inspection, electronic leak detection, or a refrigerant sniffer.
2

Repair the leak

Once the source of the leak has been located, the technician will need to repair it. This may involve soldering a small hole or replacing a damaged component.
3

Evacuate and recharge the system

After the leak has been repaired, the technician will need to evacuate the remaining refrigerant from the system and recharge it with fresh refrigerant. This will ensure that the system is operating at optimal levels.
4

Test the system

Once the system has been recharged, the technician will need to test it to ensure that it is working properly. This may involve running the system for a period of time and checking for any issues or abnormalities.

R22

R22 is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerant that has been commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems for many years. However, R22 has a high ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a high global warming potential (GWP) which makes it a contributor to environmental problems such as ozone depletion and climate change. Due to these concerns, the use of R22 has been phased out in many countries, and is being replaced by more environmentally friendly refrigerants such as R410A and R32. While R22 is still used in some older systems, it is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain due to its phase-out status

R32

R32 is a colourless, odourless, and non-toxic refrigerant gas that belongs to the HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) family of refrigerants. It has a low global warming potential (GWP) of 675, making it a more environmentally friendly option compared to other refrigerants that have higher GWPs. It is commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems, as well as heat pumps, and has been adopted by many major air conditioning brands including Daikin, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, and others. R32 has a high refrigeration capacity and is more energy-efficient than some other refrigerants, making it a popular choice in the industry. However, it is classified as slightly flammable and should be handled with care.

R410A

R410A is a blend refrigerant composed of two HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) components: (R32) and (R125). It has become a popular replacement for older refrigerants such as R22, which are being phased out due to environmental concerns. It has a relatively low global warming potential (GWP) of 2088, which is much lower than some of the older refrigerants. R410A is commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems and has been adopted by many major air conditioning brands including Carrier, Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi, and Samsung. It has a higher cooling capacity than some other refrigerants, making it an efficient choice for cooling larger spaces. However, like all refrigerants, R410A should be handled with care and proper safety precautions should be taken during installation, maintenance, and disposal.
